WSWA

This last Saturday Julie and I were invited to attend a banquet hosted by the Western Service Workers Association (WSWA). The above pix is Max and Lillian. We met Max through my daughter and we met Lillian at the banquet. Max at one time attended Bethany U. and now goes to Vintage Faith. The reason we went to the banquet was the WSWA office is across the street from CLC and they invited us to come. WSWA is a "free and voluntary unincorporated membership association" that "organizes low-income workers  to negotiate for better living and working conditions--including health care." They claim to organize professional people in the community to help the low income families as well as the homeless. I have been a witness to some of what they do. They found a doctor in our community who would perform a surgery at no cost for  Rocky, a homeless man in Santa Cruz. We paid for a hotel room for Rocky so he could recuperate. It seems like they do a lot of good things for people, but I am a little skeptical about their agenda and mission. I don't know a whole lot about WSWA, The fact that they have no website and they are not non-profit seems odd. The people who work in the office across the street work full time as volunteers. They seem to have a guiding passion to help the under privileged. With all of that I am not sure if they are really legit or if they have a hidden political agenda. A reason for the banquet was to get people to sign up for their training. I am alway interested in places to volunteer and make a difference. I am just wondering if this is legit. What do you know about WSWA?

Look at the wikipedia article on Natlfed. Even though they do provide some services for low income workers, WSWA is a front group for a left political cult. The article has many links that may be helpful.

No, I used to work with a sister organization of WSWA more than a decade ago. I found your site through a Google search. There are a number of ex-full-time volunteers with this group that are trying to ensure that truthful information is available to the public to make an informed choice. Robin Fahlberg
